Tori and Garrett’s engagement session at Whitewater Creek on the Chattahoochee provided the perfect setting for Viridian Images to capture their love for each other – with a special cameo from their furry friend, Charlie.
We caught up with Tori to get the scoop on her October wedding in Birmingham, Alabama and spill all the planning details in between to help other brides. Read on for this bride’s story and to see more from this outdoor engagement shoot.
How did you meet? Garrett and I met at Auburn University. We became friends when school started in August, but Garrett was persistent about taking me out for a date. We had our first date on October 11th of that year, and it sounds cliche, but the rest was history!
How did he propose? If anyone knows me, they know I grew up on Disney everything – and am still a big kid when it comes to anything Disney related. For Christmas last year, Garrett, my Dad, my sister, Jackie, and me went to Disney World together. We wanted to have Christmas as a family in what I believe is one of the most magical places on Earth. We got up early Christmas Day and went to the Magic Kingdown. It was already shaping out to be the best Christmas ever, then we got to the castle to take pictures and Garrett surprised me with the proposal. It was truly the best day of my life. Not only did he completely surprise me, but he made it even more special since my family was there and in on the whole thing!
What is your vision for your wedding? I want our wedding to feel classic and elegant with an evening ceremony and reception. Not only is Greystone Country Club elegant, it has a warmth to it that makes you feel like you’ve walked into someone’s home with its fireplace and dark wood accents.
Which wedding details are you most excited to see come to life? I am most excited about what we’ll be wearing on our wedding day. My bridesmaids and I will start the day in our flannel pajamas. While our wedding is classic, I am from Alabama, so I wanted a hint of country chic somewhere in my day! I cannot begin to explain how much I LOVE my gown from Winnie Couture. It’s beautiful and I can’t wait to wear it.
What has been the most difficult and most fun part of wedding planning? The most difficult part about planning has been the guest list. It’s crazy how big the numbers get when you start adding everyone up, but you want to make sure you don’t leave anyone out! The most fun part of planning has been bouncing ideas and thoughts off my bridesmaids, especially my sister Jackie. We are already close, but having her help me plan has been so fun and it has brought us even closer together.
Tell us about your vendor search and the planning process. My future mother-in-law, Sallie, took me and my sister Bridal Extravaganza of Atlanta right at the beginning of my planning process. When we met Lissette and Orlando of Viridian Images, I immediately fell in love with their work and them. They do a wonderful job taking candid shots, which I would love to have on my wedding day. More importantly, I loved talking to them. They have been so personable and wonderful to work with, even when we wanted to incorporate our 128lb Shiloh Shepherd, Charlie, into our engagement shoot. We could not be more happy with our engagement pictures and can’t wait to see our wedding album!
