Wedding Reception Rentals that WOW
While tuxedo rentals may be top of mind, the list of items you may need or want to rent could be much longer.
According to Monique Gramby, owner of Un4gettable Designz, it all depends on what your venue provides, and the look you’re hoping to achieve. While the hotel you’ve booked may offer linens or tabletop decor, she explained, they typically only have basic colors and can’t help you achieve a custom look. Her wedding decor and rental company provides items that enhance the big day but don’t make sense for couples to buy.
“Renting things like linens, glassware, and even furniture is a great way to stay within your budget and not have items cluttering your closets for years to come, “Monique said. As a certified wedding planner and event designer, she knows the elements that make the biggest impression. We asked her to break down the most popular items couples are asking about and why they’re trending for weddings now.
Backdrops
It’s all about the backdrop, said Monique, as Instagramable pics are on the wish list of nearly all brides. Grass and flower walls remain top choices and help draw eyes to focal points of your space, as well as serving as ideal selfie spots. Monique is expanding backdrop offerings to include circular versions that can display florals or candles and provide more of a frame for posed photos.
China, Glassware, and Linens
Because many venues offer just basic tableware – and some more rustic venues offer none – tabletop rentals make sense to keep your décor plan coherent. Monique said she’s seeing more vibrant colors requested this year, along with more texture and contrast in table design. A blingy charger paired with a sophisticated silk napkin creates elegance and drama. Metallic votives (rather than plain glass) reflect your linen colors and bounce light around the room.
Furniture
Whether it's a lounge area, mobile bar, or even just chairs for the tables, furniture can add so much personality to your reception space. Monique noted that clear chairs are still hugely popular. And chair pads can be added to tie in the color scheme smoothly. For indoor/outdoor affairs, wooden wine barrels are becoming a popular choice because they can be used interchangeably, as cocktail tables, for displaying photographs or sign-in books, and for serving as entryways to designated spaces. Regular banquet tables are declining in popularity as cocktail tables take over – allowing for more intimate seating groups and better room spacing.
Dessert Table Displays
To provide interest on a dessert table, Monique recommends displaying items at different heights and in different vessels. This also makes it easy to touch only the item a guest wants. Rentable items include cake risers, acrylic display boards for cake pops and shooter desserts, cupcake stands, and even doughnut pegboards. You can go for an understated look and get these items in colorless glass and acrylic or go metallic or colorful to heighten a dramatic effect.
When planning your wedding, renting can be your best friend. From the ceremony to the reception, renting can save stress, money, storage space, and ensure that your wedding is picture perfect.
